Pathways to Peace with St. Benedict Parish

Beginning in June St. Ben’s has hosted conversations online for parishioners, their friends and St. Kateri community, to support participants as we grow in understanding of systemic racism and how we, as Catholics can respond. We started with weekly discussions around the Bishops Document, Open Wide Our Hearts which addresses the sin of racism and how change starts with each individual’s reflection on their own contribution to this sin. The group has continued to meet twice a month to accompany and grow with each other in understanding and action.

Our next Zoom meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 7:30 pm. Please consider participating in these enlightening discussions around building an anti-racism community. The conversations are designed to facilitate listening, reflection, solidarity and lead us to action, in light of racism in our city and our world. All Parishioners, Families, Young Adults and Youth are invited.

The Zoom link will be sent out to all guests marked as "attending" via a private message. The link can also be obtained by emailing: kmcmillan@stbenedict.com or jroy@stbenedict.com

We celebrate the Feast Day of St. Kateri and St. Benedict

This weekend was opening weekend to be able to celebrate mass in person with safety guidelines in place. It was a great way to come back for mass and celebrate the feasts of St. Kateri Tekawitha, and St. Benedict of Nursia, with St. Benedict Parish. Here is the video from our Live Stream on Facebook, for all to enjoy the Mass from the comfort of home. We continue to pray for everyone’s health and well-being during this time.

St. Kateri Feast Day Mass Celebration

We will be able to celebrate Mass in person, St. Kateri Tekakwitha Feast Day along with the Feast Day of St. Benedict of Nusia at St. Benedict’s Mass on Sunday July 12, 2020 at 10:00am. We are pleased to announce that we will celebrate these feasts by opening our doors for public Mass for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. We understand many are still not comfortable and will provide a live stream on “St. Kateri Center of Chicago” Facebook page.

Due to social distancing guidelines, we can only accept a limited number of attendees, and all attendees must pre-register. Following are some safety guidelines to consider before registering at the provided link.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094facae2aa2fa7-stbenedict2

If you need assistance in setting up a reservation, please contact Elaine Lindia, Pastoral Associate, at (773)509-3806

Before registering, please consider the following:

Attendees showing any symptoms of illness, or have been exposed to anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19, are kindly asked to stay home.

Masks are required for ALL attendees. Those without masks will not be admitted into the church.

Attendees that are part of a vulnerable population (over 65, or with underlying health conditions, etc.) are kindly asked to consider the risks before deciding to attend.

Please use the restroom before leaving the house. Though the restroom will be open, we are discouraging attendees from using it unless absolutely necessary.

Some of the devotional areas of the church are closed. We kindly ask that attendees stay within the designated seating areas.

Attendees must enter through the main doors on Irving Park, or through the west door (closest to the parking lot).

The Cardinal has lifted the obligation to attend Mass for all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Chicago until further notice. Mass will still be broadcast daily for those that would like to attend online.

Please register by Noon on Saturday.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of Mass.
